What is Jiu Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art style that focuses on “grappling” which involves clinching with and maintaining close physical contact with your opponent both standing and on the ground. BJJ practitioners learn to apply chokes and joint locks in order to force their opponents to submit or “tap out”. This martial art is used by champion MMA fighters, military and law enforcement for its efficiency and ability to maintain control of one’s opponent.
What Makes 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu different?
BJJ practitioners wear a uniform known as a “Gi”, which can be gripped and used to grapple with and submit their opponents. 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu is a 100% “No-Gi” style of Jiu Jitsu founded by Eddie Bravo in 2003. Since gi’s are not worn in MMA, submission grappling competitions or on the street, 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu techniques find other methods to grip, control and submit opponents without relying of gripping a Gi which will not always be there.

Kids Jiu Jitsu
Our kids Jiu Jitsu program teaches children ages 6 & up to become champions both on and off the mats. Classes run year round and students have the opportunity to compete in tournaments from the local to national level.
